COVID in Peru

You have been waiting for this moment since lockdown started! You have already received the COVID-19 vaccine and are ready to explore the world. But before you start your next adventure in Peru, be sure to consider these factors:

Before your trip

Do I need to be vaccinated?

  • Although it is strongly advised to receive the COVID-19 vaccine before traveling to Peru, it is not mandatory to be vaccinated.
  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Are you traveling to Peru from Brazil, India, or South Africa? There may be some restrictions in place, please see the last updates here before planning your trip.
  • Are you vaccinated? Congratulations! You do NOT have to self-quarantine after you arrive in the United States. However, you may still be required to present a molecular (within 72 hours) or antigen test (within 24 hours) with a negative result before boarding an incoming flight to Peru. See the last update for travelers to Peru here.

Be sure to pack masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes to use on the airplane and throughout your trip. And keep an eye on any possible symptoms of COVID! Rest assured; our team will help you reschedule your trip if you need to self-quarantine before your trip. Learn more about our cancellation policy here.

During your trip

Although receiving the vaccine will reduce the risk of your trip, there is a minimal chance of contracting COVID during your vacation in Peru. Make sure to follow these tips to minimize the risk and help protect others:

Good hygiene

Some of the best ways to stop the spread of COVID-19 are in your hands.

  • Wash your hands constantly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. You will find hand-washing stations throughout your trip; feel free to use them all the times you need them.
  • If soap and water are not available, our staff will put them at your disposal hand sanitizer. It is also a good idea to take with you alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing 60-80% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. And please, if you need to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with the inside of your elbow or tissue. Everybody around you will thank you!
  • No-touch greetings are preferred to minimize exposure to COVID-19. Do not worry because handwaving is not offensive in Peru, and will protect our staff and their families!
  • Even, if you are vaccinated, please use a mask over your nose and mouth.
  • Social distancing is a great way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Please follow the recommendations of your guide and the local authorities in this regard.

I might have contracted COVID-19
